APT

This page is collecting ideas for improving the APT group in general. Please stick to APT related issues. For room and environment related issues use the IT302 page. I realise that people dont want to complain too hard so if anyone asks I (Charlie) can create an anonymous proxy for people to post their comments through.

Group Cooperation

The one major complaint/comment which has appeared from both the new head of school and the portfolio review was the cooperation of the different branches of the group.

General Apathy

There has been a mood of general apathy from many of the students. The main complaint seems to be the lack of direction in their work. Being expected to present work in the weekly meetings do kick people into gear for a while but a more comprehensive peer review system could be useful

Paper Acceptance Record

Recently (last few years) the paper output of the group has dramatically dropped. The two main reasons for this are obvious (1:papers being rejected, 2:papers not being written). One thing I have noticed is papers from other places have up to 10 names on them. This hints that other groups collaborate on papers, all small research groups adding to the overall effort.
