Minutes of the Meeting of the Parallelisation Subgroup on March 9th 2006

Present Ian Watson, Ian Rogers, Jisheng Zhao, Chris Kirkham

JZ: Showed some results for instructions executed when running a simple

benchmark parallelised with various grain-sizes and run on different

numbers of processors. Unfortunately the non-loop instructions made the

differences quite small ....

IR: Mentioned that he was going to added parallelisations to Pearcolator.

CCK: Suggested a hardware counter of passing context tokens at each processor,

as a way of measuring loading. IR improved on this by proposing that it

be implemented as a shift-register, so that a population-count would indicate

CCK wrote these minutes and welcomes corrections/additions.
